Step By Step Guide
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is an established treatment for men with confirmed low testosterone. Done well, it’s personal, monitored and honest about tradeoffs. Done poorly, it’s a prescription mailed after a ten-minute questionnaire. Here’s what TRT looks like at Remedy, step by step.
Step 1: Labs and a real conversation
Every plan starts with a comprehensive men’s panel and a sit-down with your provider. You’ll talk through symptoms, sleep, training, stress, family plans and goals. Low testosterone is confirmed with two early-morning blood draws showing total testosterone below 300 ng/dL, plus symptoms, per American Urological Association guidance.
Step 2: A plan built on your numbers
Your provider walks you through your results and explains what fits. That can include testosterone injections, BHRT pellets, or no testosterone at all if something else explains your symptoms. If you’re hoping to have children, this is the moment to say so; see TRT and fertility.
Step 3: Treatment under supervision
Every prescription is provider-directed. Any compounded medication comes only from state-licensed pharmacies, never “research chemicals.”
Step 4: Follow-up and repeat labs
Monitoring is part of the plan, not an add-on. Repeat labs track:
- Testosterone levels, to keep you in a healthy range rather than chasing the highest number
- Hematocrit (red blood cell concentration), which TRT can raise
- PSA, a prostate marker
- Estradiol and other markers, as your history calls for
Your plan is adjusted based on how your body responds.
Is TRT safe?
For men with confirmed low testosterone, TRT is an established treatment when properly monitored. Known risks include a rise in red blood cell count, reduced sperm production, acne, fluid retention and breast tenderness. Regular labs catch changes early. Your provider will cover benefits and risks for your specific health history before you start.
How long until I feel a difference?
It varies by person and by therapy. Your provider will set expectations from your labs and plan, and follow-up visits track progress. No one can honestly guarantee a specific result or timeline.
Why in-person TRT beats online TRT
- A provider who knows you. Face-to-face visits with a licensed Minnesota provider, not a rotating app doctor.
- Other causes ruled out. Thyroid, blood sugar and sleep problems can mimic low T.
- Real monitoring. Labs are rechecked and your dose adjusted.
- Verified sourcing. State-licensed pharmacies only.
Remedy does not prescribe testosterone by telehealth. All care happens at our Maple Grove clinic.
FAQ
How much does TRT cost in Maple Grove?
Cost depends on your labs and the therapy chosen. Remedy offers memberships and financing to make ongoing care and monitoring simpler.
Will I be on TRT forever?
Many men stay on therapy long term, but it’s a decision you make with your provider, revisited as your labs and goals change.
Can TRT help me lose weight?
It may help body composition in men with low T, but it’s not a weight-loss drug. See GLP-1 weight loss for men.
